Spamhaus Listings Explained
When an IP is blacklisted, we query the exact blocklist database it appears on:
- SBLSpamhaus Block List: Verified sources of spam messages.
- XBLExploits Block List: IPs infected by illegal 3rd party exploits, including open proxies, worms, and Trojans with built-in spam engines.
- PBLPolicy Block List: End-user IP space that should not be delivering unauthenticated SMTP email to standard servers.
- CSSCSS Block List: IPs sending snowshoe spam or demonstrating poor list hygiene.
Why Check Blacklists?
- Deliverability: If your mail server IP is listed, your outgoing emails are likely bouncing or landing in spam folders.
- Server Security: A blacklisted server IP can indicate that your machine has been compromised.
- Network Hygiene: Maintaining clean IP space is vital for hosting providers and enterprise network administrators.
